COVID Causes Cruise to Rethink AV

March 4, 2021—Cruise, a self-driving car service, debuted its ride-hailing vehicle, Origin, in January of 2020 but since the onset of the pandemic, Origin needs to be redesigned. 

Origin initially featured two benches, with three people each...and facing each other. MotorTrend reported the design "is not ideal in a world looking to prevent the spread of a deadly virus.

The new configuration will feature a middle section, plexiglass between the rows, a custom vent system, and of course, disinfectant.
