Feb. 18, 2021—General Motors is developing the highly anticipated 2022 Hummer EV in record time thanks to the help of virtual reality.

According to CNBC, it traditionally takes automakers five to seven years to fully develop and launch a new model, but the Hummer EV will be completed in under three years.

“Our leadership has challenged us to bring the Hummer EV to market fast, using our analytical tools, our computer-aided engineering and less physical vehicle testing, which is where we are at right now,” said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Hummer EV. “That is going to become the norm for every program at GM.”

Rumor has it, the 2022 Hummer EV will hit production lines as soon as next fall.
