Panasonic Confirms Tesla Battery Production

Feb. 5, 2021—Panasonic has confirmed that it plans to produce the Tesla 4680 battery cell later this year. 

Tesla's 4680 battery cell is said to have five times more energy and six times more power than the traditional batteries used in electric vehicles. The production line for the new battery cell is planned at Gigafactory Nevada, reports Electrek

Hirokazu Umeda, Panasonic's CFO, said the partnership could be profitable as soon as the upcoming fiscal year.
