Safety Tech Broadcasts Cyclists' Locations to Vehicles

Oct. 20, 2020—The LINKS Foundation, a technology company, recently ran a demonstration intended to keep bicyclists safe which featured a bicycle outfitted with a global navigation device.
The device is able to determine the bike's precise location and via a 5G transceiver and relay that information to nearby vehicles, warning them that a bicyclist is ahead of them. The device is supported by Fiat Chrysler and the 5G Automotive Association, reports the Seattle Times.
The goal of the demonstration is to inform drivers of their surroundings and eventually prevent bicyclist and pedestrian deaths.
