VW Names New Model After American City

Sept. 18, 2020—Volkswagen has announced the name of its latest compact SUV which has roots in North American and Native American culture. The Volkswagen Taos is intended to resonate with Americans as does the city of Taos, New Mexico.
Taos has a small population, approximately 6,000, and boasts a 400-year history and is located just a few miles from historic Taos Pueblo, a 1,000-year-old Native American Community.
Taos Mayor, Dan Barrone, said, “It’s a great opportunity for our community to share its rich history and culture alongside Volkswagen with its unique and rich history and culture.”
The Taos SUV, according to a press release, offers a variety of ADAS features, superb fuel economy, and pristine packaging. The official reveal of the latest model is scheduled for next month.
