Sept. 16, 2020—Maserati has announced that it plans to release a range of battery-powered vehicles, with the first one titled MC20 Folgore.

Accord to Autoblog, "the 800-volt Folgore powertrain consists of one electric motor mounted over the front axle, and two electric motors installed over the rear axle." Maserati's engineers also went the extra mile to ensure the motors are smaller, lighter, and more efficient than ever before.

This new technology from Maserati will not be reserved for the top tier luxury cars, but rather, will become the norm across Maserati vehicles. The electric version of the MC20 is rumored to be "more powerful" than its gasoline-powered counterpart, which has 621 horsepower.

The Maserati MC20 Folgore is set to make its debut in 2022.
