Limited Series McLaren Speedtail Reaches Up to 250mph

Aug. 13, 2020—The McLaren Speedtail can reach up to 250 miles per hour thanks to its fully-submerged batteries. The fiscal-friendly $2 million car has a unique design layout that lacks front air air bags, making it technically illegal to drive on U.S. roads, according to Car and Driver.
The batteries of the McLaren Speedtail are permanently immersed in an electrically insulative oil, which allows the cells to work harder for a longer stretch of time, reports The Drive.
Under the hood of the latest McLaren, you'll find a 4.0-liter V8 engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. With a total output of up to 1,055 horsepower, the vehicle can reach 186 miles per hour in just 13 seconds.
