What if Roads and Cars Could Talk to Each Other?

July 28, 2020—Utah's Department of Transportation is working on new technology that could allow roads and traffic lights to communicate with your car, reports Fox 13 News.
UDOT's Vehicle to Everything (V2X) Technology has the potential to update your vehicle about changing road conditions. This includes everything from rain and snow in the roadways to unexpected potholes.
In 2017, UDOT installed a similar technology on city buses called Dedicated Short Range Communication that helped to keep the buses on time and even increased ridership. UDOT has spent almost $14 million on V2X technology in the last three years.
