Honda Moves Away from Touchscreens
April 2, 2020—Honda has moved away from touchscreen controls in its new Jazz hatchback car after reports of touchscreen dashboards creating more distractions for the driver, a contributor wrote in Forbes. The Jazz is the overseas nameplate for the Honda Fit.
The current-generation Jazz in addition to the touchscreen infotainment system, uses touchscreens for its heating and air-conditioning controls. The 2020 Jazz vehicle reinstates physical climate controls.
According to the report, the move helps minimize driver disruption. Other automakers, like Jaguar Land Rover, have found somewhat of a solution with a touchscreen display that features two rotating dials on top, whose functionality changes based on what is tapped, and can be rotated without looking.
