Battery Cathode Plant Announced for Tennessee

Nov. 22, 2022—LG Chem announced a manufacturing plant for Clarksville, Tennessee, that would cost $3.2 billion, according to Clarksville Now.

The plant is expected to be the largest plant of its kind in the United States, and it will make cathodes needed to produce EV batteries. Within its 420-acre plot, the plant could produce 120,000 tons of cathode material by 2027, according to the story.

LG Chem is a key battery supplier for General Motors.
