Stellantis to Build EV Battery Plant in Indiana

May 26, 2022—Stellantis on Tuesday announced it will partner with Samsung to build a $2.5 billion EV battery manufacturing facility in Indiana.
According to a report from the Associated Press per the Kokomo Tribune, the automaker will build the facility in Kokomo, which is just under 55 miles directly north of Indianapolis. The facility will employ up to 1,400 workers; construction is planned to start later this year, and the plant is expected to open sometime in early 2025.
Per the report, this facility will be the second of its kind for Stellantis in the U.S. Stellantis North American COO Mark Stewart said during an announcement press conference the total investment in the facility could reach as high as $3.1 billion.
