First-Ever Self-Driving Car Rules Proposed
March 18, 2020—The U.S. Department of Transportation proposed modernizing some regulations for self-driving cars like no longer being required to have a steering wheel, reported Consumer Reports.
The proposal calls for seating arrangements in self-driving cars so that passengers can face each other.
Regulators will be accepting and analyzing comments from the auto industry, safety groups and the public before making the proposed rule changes final, according to the report.
