April 28, 2022—Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis on Tuesday confirmed a new vehicle that will launch under the Hornet moniker.

The Hornet will launch as a small compact. According to a report from the Detroit Free Press, Kuniskis made the comment while answering a question about Dodge's plans for electrification during an online meeting.

"I think we’ve actually even said when we get back into the small compact space this summer when we launch the Hornet, we will have a PHEV or variant of that," Kuniskis said.

Per the report, the new Hornet is expected to share a platform with recently launched Alfa Romeo Tonale compact SUV. The Tonale, which is being built for the Italian market, will also have a plug-in hybrid offering and significantly lower price tag than other models from the brand.
