April 26, 2022—Ford has started production of its F-150 Lightning, the automaker's first all-electric pickup truck.

According to a report from Yahoo! Finance, production has started at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. Ford says it has 200,000 reservations for the pickup.

"Today we celebrate the Model T moment for the 21st Century," Ford executive chair Bill Ford stated in a press release.

Fittingly, production of the pickup is happening in the same Rouge Complex where Henry Ford perfected the assembly line with the Ford Model T.

The initial offering of the F-150 Lightning offers 320 miles of range on a single charge, 10,000 pounds of towing capacity, 563 horsepower and a zero to 60 time under 4.5 seconds.
