March 25, 2022—Nvidia has launched a new software platform with the goal of mapping roads in North America, Europe and Asia.

According to a report from TechCrunch, Nvidia's Drive Map takes data from both already-surveyed maps and "anonymous mapping data" that has been sourced from vehicle's equipped with Nvidia's Hyperion chip. Data pulled from those sources is then aggregated in the company's open cloud platform in real time, allowing autonomous vehicles using a Hyperion chip for its ADAS capabilities to better respond to road conditions.

The company hopes to have more than 300,000 miles of roadways mapped by the end of 2024.
