VW to Tap Electric Car Batteries
March 13, 2020—Volkswagen's expanding into electric car batteries, which will open business opportunities in storing and managing energy, reported Reuters.
Electric car batteries could be used to stabilize the energy grid. The move to vehicle-to-grid services (V2G) would charge the battery in times of excess supply and sell electricity back to the grid when supplies are low.
VW is not the only carmaker venturing into these services. German utility E.ON has been working with Japanese carmaker Nissan to develop V2G.
