GM to Hire 8,000 New Tech Employees

Jan. 28, 2021—General Motors on Wednesday said it will hire more than 8,000 new people across its company's various departments for tech-focused roles.
The announcement comes a day after the Detroit Free Press reported the automaker was looking to hire around 400 software specialists.
"Our commitment to hiring 8,000 tech employees in 2022 is an exciting sign of GM’s momentum, our quest to innovate technology with impact, and our focus on helping people find their purpose in the workplace," GM Innovation Accelerator Director Jessika Lora said in a statement to the Free Press.
General Motors currently employees more than 50,00 people in Michigan, and the company hired 10,000 globally last year.
