Dec. 17, 2021—An autonomous vehicle company backed by Toyota had its testing license in the state of California revoked after one of its vehicles crashed.

According to a report from Reuters, a vehicle operated by Pony.ai hit a road divider and traffic sign Oct. 28 in Fremont, according to a report filed by the company with the state's DMV. What caused the accident is still unclear, though no injuries were reported.

About a month later, the DMV notified Pony.ai its driverless testing license had been revoked, effective immediately. The company can still test vehicles in the state, but they must have an operator in the vehicle at all times.

The suspension comes only about six months after the company received its driverless testing permit.
