Bolt Production to Stay Down through February

Dec. 17, 2021—General Motors on Thursday said production of its Chevrolet Bolt EVs will remain down through at least February.
GM's Orion Assembly plant, which makes the Bolt, has been mostly shut down since August due to a battery fire recall, according to a report from The Detroit News. The plant did reopen for a couple of weeks in November to make replacement vehicles for customers waiting for recall repairs.
“GM has notified employees at Orion Assembly the plant will extend downtime through February 2022 to continue prioritizing recall repairs," GM spokesman Dan Flores said in a statement. "We will continue to inform employees at the appropriate time of any additional production schedule adjustments, as we continue to focus on battery module replacements.”
