Ford Offers Hybrid Escape

Oct. 27, 2021—After numerous production and safety delays, Ford's plug-in hybrid version of its Escape SUV is finally reaching dealerships.

A standard hybrid version of the SUV went on sale at its originally scheduled time almost two years ago, according to a report from Market Watch, but a fire risk in the EV's battery as well as the semiconductor chip shortage pushed production back.

The starting price for the Escape PHEV is $34,320, about $5,000 more than the standard Hybrid, although it does qualify for several federal and state EV credits and incentives.
