Oct. 25, 2021—Stellantis on Friday announced it has entered a partnership with Samsung SDI to build a North American EV battery factory.

The partnership is the second Stellantis has announced this week—the automaker announced earlier last week another partnership with LG to build a battery factory.

Locations for either plant have not yet been decided according to a report from the Detroit Free Press. Stellantis is currently reviewing plans for both. The Samsung plant is planned to begin production in 2025.

The plants are the latest efforts in a strong push for electrification by Stellantis. Earlier this year, the automaker announced $35 billion in investments in EV development and infrastructure through 2025.
