Toyota to Build $1.29B Battery Plant

Oct. 20, 2021—Toyota on Monday announced it will build a $1.29 billion battery factory somewhere in the U.S.

The location of the plant has not yet been decided, but the company said per a report from The Detroit News it expects to employ around 1,750 people and start making batteries in 2025.

The plant is part of a planned $3.4 billion investment by Toyota on U.S. EV battery infrastructure in the coming decade. Plans for the remaining $2.1 billion have not yet been disclosed.
