Ford Exploring EV Police Fleet

Sept. 22, 2021—Ford Motor Co. is exploring the possibility of electrifying its police fleet vehicles.
The company in a news release Friday said it has submitted an "all-electric police pilot vehicle" based on the 2021 Mustang Mach-E platform for testing during the Michigan State Police 2022 Model Year Police Evaluation. The project is part of Ford's $30 billion investment in electrification through the next four years.
"Ford will use the pilot program testing as a benchmark while it continues to explore purpose-built electric police vehicles in the future," the release said. "Law enforcement demand for all-electric vehicles is growing worldwide."
Ford also debuted a Mach-E police cruiser in the United Kingdom earlier this month.
