Ford Hires Former Tesla, Apple Exec

Sept. 9, 2021—Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday announced it hired Doug Field, a former executive for Tesla and Apple, to lead its new technology efforts.

According to a report from CNBC, Field will be give the title of chief advanced technology and embedded system officer. In the new role, he will the company's endeavors into ADAS, digital engineering, vehicle controls, connectivity and other tech advancements. 

“We’re grateful for the contributions Doug has made to Apple and we wish him all the best in this next chapter," Apple said in an email statement.

Field most recently served as Apple's special projects vice president. He also led development of the Model 3 during his time with Tesla.
