Sept. 8, 2021—Toyota will spend around $9 billion over a decade to build electric vehicle battery factories.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Toyota is a late-comer to the EV race, favoring hybrids. But the company is now putting big money toward electric vehicle development.

There aren't many concrete details at this point, but as many as 70 factories could be built over the decade around the world.
