August 18, 2021—EV startup Canoo has hired hundreds of employees and is quickly approaching a point where it can begin production.

According to a report from TechCrunch, a sales report presentation from the company on Monday estimated the company is expecting to produce 25,000 units by 2023. Canoo officials also provided an update on its plans for its Oklahoma-based production plant—though its "ramping up of expenses pre-revenue" is a good sign that the company is making strides toward its production goals, "there's still work to be done before construction begins on the Oklahoma factory," per the report.

Of the 9,500 pre-orders placed for Canoo vehicles, reservations for the company's pickup truck and multipurpose vehicle remain the highest.
