August 10, 2021—General Motors will soon begin taking reservations for its upcoming Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV.

The manufacturer confirmed the new, fully electric SUV will be available for preorder on Sept. 18, according to a report from Electrek. The reservations will help GM develop "a backlog of orders," which can help gauge interest in the vehicle.

The Lyriq is expected to be available at some point in the first half of 2022 and will be the first new GM EV to us the OEM's Ultium powertrain platform following the fully electric Hummer EV.

The base model is priced under $60,000 and will be rear-wheel-drive, though future models will come with an AWD option. GM's driver assist system, SuperCruise, will also be made available in the vehicle.
