VW Battery Electric Vehicle Sales Nearly Triple in 2021
July 22, 2021—Volkswagen on Tuesday said global delivery of its battery electric vehicles nearly tripled in the first half of 2021.
Driven in large part by demand in Europe after the EU put a target end-date on the stoppage of internal combustion vehicles, VW delivered slightly more than 170,000 battery EVs in the first six months of the year, per a report from Reuters.
The company said demand for those vehicles remains high and it plans to deliver 1 million battery and hybrid electric vehicles through the end of 2021. VW did not specify a target number for its BEV sales.
