July 6, 2021—The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Thursday unveiled a new cloud-based recall dashboard that will allow users to search for auto safety recalls.

The dashboard, which the NHTSA says will be updated daily, allows users to sort and filter data, use keywords to search the database and export specific data in numerous formats from an "easy and efficient" user interface, the NHTSA said in a news release.

“This new dashboard provides unprecedented transparency into the recall process,” NHTSA Acting Administrator Steven Cliff said in the release. “More than 50 years of recall data are now easily available to the media, researchers, safety advocates, and anyone interested in learning more about vehicle safety. This initiative is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s commitment to safety on our roadways, and it provides increased transparency and accountability to the American people.”

Before the interactive dashboard, the NHTSA only had recall data available through a bulk download.
