July 1, 2021—Electric vehicle startup Canoo announced in June plans to build a vehicle plant near Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The plant will be operational by 2023 according to Motor Authority and will initially focus on the company's multi-purpose delivery vehicle model. The plant will be part of a larger 400-acre campus "within Tulsa's MidAmerica Industrial Park" and is expected to generate more than 2,000 jobs.

While Canoo waits for its U.S. plant to be finished, VDL Nedcar, which has built for multiple brands such as BMW and Volvo, will build Canoo's Lifestyle Vehicle for the U.S. and European markets. The compact minivan will enter production some time in late 2022 and will start from around $35,000.
