June 8, 2021—To be released later this year, the 2022 Lexus LS500h will be the automaker's first offering to feature something approaching self-driving technology.
According to a Car and Driver report, the feature, dubbed "Teammate," is indicative of Lexus and parent company Toyota's conservative approach to self-driving, which differs from other automakers who tend to oversell vehicles' autonomous abilities.
Per the article, "Toyota's new system allows for extended periods of hands-free driving on limited-access highways."
