May 12, 2021—Tesla has authorized California-based Unplugged Performance for maintenance and modifications.

Torque News reports that all Teslas will "go into service mode" as they enter an Unplugged Performance shop. Techs will be able to access diagnostics, repair tools, and parts.

Tesla owners previously risked a voided warranty by seeking third-party repair work or modifications outside of Tesla's tightly controlled ecosystem. Torque News writes that "it is a rarity to see a car mod company be given full discretion over servicing cars for a given manufacturer."
