What's the Lithium Content of Lithium-Ion Batteries?

May 5, 2021—There's hardly any lithium present in lithium-ion batteries, it turns out. It's still a crucial part of the mixture, though.
Battery Technology has a handy slideshow all about the component parts inside the batteries that power our electronics and, increasingly, vehicles.
The banner statistic is that lithium makes up only 2 percent or so of the mix. The largest chunk of material inside a battery is aluminum, which isn't involved in electrochemical reactions, but it provides a nice framework material for the battery.
