GM Recalls 69K Bolt EVs for Fire Risk

April 30, 2021—General Motors is recalling 69,000 Chevrolet Bolt EVs, Reuters reports.
The issue is fire risks that sprang from five reported fires and two minor injuries from 2017 to 2019 model years. They involve batteries produced at the LG Chem South Korea plant.
The company plans to install diagnostic software to detect issues in the future. Because the risk is greater when the batteries are charged at full capacity, GM issued a temporary software fix that limits charge to 90 percent.
