April 14, 2021—Computer chip maker Nvidia and Volvo have reached a deal to bring computing power for autonomous driving and other applications, Reuters reported.

Nvidia is expecting big profits for its automotive systems, as major OEMs line up to rival Tesla. Volvo will use Nvidia's Drive Orin system first in the new XC90 SUV that will debut next year.

Greater computing power in vehicles will help support over-the-air updates, hands-free driving, automatic parking and other tasks.
