March 26, 2021—Owners of Hyundai Kona EVs told Reuters that the process has been fraught with miscommunication and slow action.

Hyundai is on the hook for $900 million to replace 82,000 battery systems after a massive recall related to fire risks. South Korean owners who need transportation told Reuters that there has been little movement thus far.

In November, 173 Kona owners filed a class-action lawsuit related to the recall. Earlier in the fall, Hyundai released a software update before agreeing to replace the battery systems. Around 75,000 Kona EVs were affected.
